Out of Africa Art Benefit May 26, 2009

30"x40"
My passion for Africa is overwhelming and I have a strong desire to help the people of that continent in any way possible….but while I am in this country, I will paint and I will paint to raise awareness about the suffering there, I will paint to raise money to help the beautiful people of that place….that is my mission and the desire behind the painting I do for Africa. I got to donate two of my pieces to this great benefit that’s happening on June 5th here in Austin to raise money for a health clinic in Arusha, Tanzania. The girls hosting this benefit will be hand delivering the raised funds just days after the benefit. Please contact me if you’d like details about the event.
Barrels Across Texas February 26, 2009
I had the awesome opportunity to design a wine barrel for
www.barrelsacrosstexas.com which is a fundraising effort for
the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival. The barrels
will be on display around Austin and then auctioned off to
benefit the Capital Area Food Bank and Dell Children’s Medical
Center of Central Texas. On display at Malaga Tapas and Bar in the 2nd Street District.
THOUGHTS October 23, 2008
i found a journal from the beginning of my career as a nurse and i think these few exerpts sum up the intensity of this work…my intention is never to decrease the experiences of the little ones actually going through this journey, but to bring awareness to the topics that are so difficult to talk about…i paint to bring these emotions to a platform that will hopefully start dialogs about such matters.
“although easy to breeze through a shift emotionless, the weight never hesitates to descend on my heart and mind in a matter of time…the encounters take my breath away…many tears will never be forgotten…this job is so real, lives are truly on the line…their paths are forever changed…immense responsibility…i don’t know how to place this.”
